President Droupadi Murmu Visits Moldovas Parliament to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Chisinau, July 20: President Droupadi Murmu visited Moldova’s Parliament on Monday, where she met with Speaker Igor Grosu and members of the parliamentary friendship group.

According to a statement from the President’s Secretariat, during the meeting, President Murmu expressed confidence that leaders from both India and Moldova would continue to advance a strong, forward-looking, and mutually beneficial partnership between the two nations.

Accompanying President Murmu were Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Nimuben Jayanthibhai Bambahaniya, along with MPs Dr. Dinesh Sharma and Vijay Baghel.

Earlier in the day, President Murmu paid tribute at the Stephen the Great Monument in Chisinau. She also met with Moldova’s President Maia Sandu at the Presidential Palace, where both leaders reviewed India-Moldova relations and discussed ways to enhance cooperation.

Before the meeting, President Murmu received a traditional welcome at the Presidential Palace, including a guard of honor. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal described the discussions as ‘productive,’ stating that both countries reiterated their commitment to exploring new opportunities and advancing bilateral relations.

Jaiswal wrote on the social media platform ‘X,’ “President Droupadi Murmu held fruitful bilateral talks with Moldova’s President Maia Sandu at the Presidential Palace. Both leaders reviewed all aspects of India-Moldova cooperation and discussed ways to enhance collaboration. The shared commitment to opening new opportunities and strengthening bilateral relations was reaffirmed.”

President Murmu also addressed the India-Moldova Business Forum held in Chisinau, inviting Moldovan companies to take advantage of investment and trade opportunities in India.

She emphasized that India is one of the fastest-growing major economies in the world. As the country moves towards the goal of ‘Developed India 2047,’ it is creating a transparent, reliable, and investment-friendly business environment.

While speaking at the India-Moldova Business Forum, President Murmu stated that India values reliable international partnerships for shared prosperity and sustainable economic development.

She added, “India offers good business and trade opportunities for Moldovan companies. We are committed to creating a transparent, reliable, and investment-friendly business environment.”
