Madurai, April 6: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated on Monday that a strong wave of change is sweeping Tamil Nadu in favor of the NDA, and he is confident that the alliance will form the next government in the state.
Addressing the media after the nomination filing of BJP candidate Rama Srinivasan, Fadnavis described him as a young and promising leader with extensive experience in public service.
“We have just filed the nomination of our candidate, Rama Srinivasan. I can clearly see a wave of change in Tamil Nadu. This time, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and our NDA allies, we will form the government in Tamil Nadu. Our candidate will definitely win from this constituency,” he asserted.
Fadnavis targeted the ruling DMK and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s remarks about a ‘box engine,’ stating that the people of the state will respond decisively through their votes.
He alleged that the public has witnessed the misgovernance of the DMK, with nearly 75% of its cabinet members facing criminal charges. “Corruption runs deep. Women, senior citizens, and children are unsafe. Cases of child sexual abuse have doubled in the last four years, and people see a nexus between the DMK and such elements. Therefore, the public will respond by bringing the NDA to power,” he said.
The Chief Minister expressed concern over the state’s economic situation, noting that Tamil Nadu is becoming trapped in a debt crisis.
“Tamil Nadu has been one of our country’s most promising states, but under the DMK government, it has been burdened with heavy debt. The total debt has exceeded 10 lakh crore rupees, and the GDP ratio has risen above 30-33%, which is alarming,” he added.
Regarding the three-language policy, Fadnavis emphasized the need for unity while respecting linguistic diversity.
In response to the DMK’s opposition to this policy, he stated, “We are one people, one nation. We should take pride in our language while also respecting the country’s other languages.”
