Chinese Vice Premier Emphasizes High-Quality Development in Xinjiang

Beijing, June 27: Chinese Vice Premier Ting Shuxiang has called for the promotion of new development factors in Xinjiang by leveraging its unique strengths. He emphasized the need for accelerating high-quality economic and social development.

Ting, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, conducted an inspection tour of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from Thursday to Friday.

He urged the full, faithful, and comprehensive implementation of the Party’s strategy for governance in Xinjiang in the new era. He also focused on the “five strategic positions” set by the Central Committee of the Party.

Ting called for utilizing Xinjiang’s geographical advantages, deepening economic and trade cooperation with neighboring countries, and helping to establish Xinjiang as a golden route across the Eurasian continent and a gateway to the West.

As the peak energy consumption season approaches, Ting stressed the importance of ensuring energy supply, strengthening distribution management, advancing the establishment of a national strategic base for energy and resources, and promoting the smooth supply and full consumption of clean energy. He also called for enhancing research, development, and application of advanced technologies to promote the green transformation of industries.

During his visit, Ting toured Xinjiang University and Xinjiang Industry Technical College, where he reviewed the development of higher education in ethnic minority areas. He emphasized the need to foster a strong community spirit among the Chinese nation, promote integrated development in education, science, technology, and talent, and encourage more graduates to settle in Xinjiang and contribute to its development.
