New Delhi, June 27: U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio‘s endorsement of India’s strategy to diversify its energy sources has been welcomed by senior government officials and leaders, who termed it a “major diplomatic victory.”
In a special interview, Rubio stated that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India is progressing towards becoming a global power, with increasing participation in international decision-making.
Jagwinder Singh Virk, Chairman of the Australia India Strategic Alliance, commented, “This is a significant diplomatic achievement. It showcases what India can accomplish. While petrol and diesel prices have surged by nearly 50% globally, India has managed to keep diesel prices relatively stable, with petrol seeing only minor increases of five, seven, or ten rupees—less than ten percent.”
He added, “Managing the impacts of war-like conditions has been a major accomplishment for the Indian government. This diplomatic success reflects the relationships India has built, which are now being recognized by the U.S. and other countries.”
Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh noted that since Prime Minister Modi took office, his sole aim has been to strengthen the nation.
He stated, “Strengthening the country socially, enhancing internal security, and preparing to tackle external threats have been key focuses. Prime Minister Modi has made significant efforts in these areas, similar to how U.S. President Donald Trump campaigned on ‘Make America Great Again.'”
Echoing this sentiment, former Indian Ambassador to Jordan, Libya, and Malta, Anil Trigunayat, referred to India as the “largest and strongest democracy and the fastest-growing major economy.”
He remarked, “India has made considerable advancements in technology, particularly in defense and security. Our energy security is crucial. Due to the Iran conflict and the resulting tensions, India has shifted its energy policies to focus on acquiring energy from diverse sources.”
Trigunayat acknowledged that while India faces some domestic challenges, its foreign policy is robust and adaptable to changing circumstances.
Former Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir, S.P. Vaid, stated, “India is perhaps the only country in Asia where prices have not surged significantly despite the West Asia crisis. The Indian government has absorbed the inflation burden, ensuring that the common people do not bear the brunt of this crisis, which is commendable.”
