NCR Experiences Clean Air as AQI Reaches Green Zone After Years

Noida, April 8: Residents of the National Capital Region (NCR) are finally enjoying clean and fresh air after years. Continuous rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds have led to a significant improvement in the Air Quality Index (AQI).

Many areas have recorded AQI levels in the ‘Green Zone’ and ‘Satisfactory’ category, giving residents a refreshing mountain-like experience. Recent data shows that various regions in Delhi have reported much better AQI levels. In Alipur, the AQI is at 83, Anand Vihar at 112, Ashok Vihar at 86, Bawana at 89, Burari Crossing at 75, the Cantonment Area at 72, and Chandni Chowk at 104.

In Noida, AQI levels are also promising, with Sector 125 at 93, Sector 62 at 73, Sector 1 at 96, and Sector 116 at 84. These figures indicate that air quality is at ‘Good’ or ‘Satisfactory’ levels across most areas. Ghaziabad is experiencing similar conditions, with Indirapuram recording an AQI of 84, Loni at 126, Sanjay Nagar at 84, and Vasundhara at 82.

According to the weather department, the maximum temperature is expected to reach 28 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will be around 17 degrees Celsius today. The forecast predicts ‘Thunderstorm with Rain’ conditions throughout the day. Light rain, thunder, and strong winds of 30 to 50 km/h are expected from morning to evening. A yellow alert has been issued for the NCR, advising residents to remain cautious.

Weather experts indicate that light to moderate rain, along with lightning and strong winds, will persist throughout the morning, afternoon, and evening. This weather change is visibly affecting daily life, causing waterlogging and traffic jams, which are creating challenges for commuters.

However, the positive aspect of this weather change is the significant reduction in pollution levels, allowing residents to breathe cleaner air. Experts suggest that if favorable weather conditions continue, AQI levels may remain in the better category in the coming days. The forecast for April 9 predicts clear weather, with maximum temperatures around 31 degrees and minimums at 17 degrees Celsius. Currently, no warnings have been issued.
