Tragic Road Accident in Barmer Claims Four Lives

Jaipur, April 14: A tragic road accident on the Barmer-Jaisalmer highway has resulted in the deaths of four individuals. The incident occurred near Harsani Phanta when a car collided head-on with a pickup truck. All four occupants of the car were killed, while the pickup truck driver sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Initial reports indicate that the car was traveling from Jaisalmer to Barmer when it suddenly lost control and crashed into the oncoming pickup truck near Harsani Phanta. The impact was so severe that the car was completely wrecked, trapping the four passengers inside. Chaos ensued at the scene, prompting bystanders to immediately notify the police. Among the deceased are one woman, two men, and a child.

Preliminary information suggests that the victims were residents of Jodhpur, although formal identification is still underway. Officers from the rural police station arrived at the scene and, with the help of locals, retrieved the bodies from the wreckage. Superintendent of Police Choonaram Jat reached the site shortly after being informed.

Rajendra Singh, the Additional District Magistrate of Barmer, along with Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramesh Sharma, visited the district hospital where the bodies have been placed in the morgue. The injured driver is currently receiving medical care.

Authorities have commenced an investigation into the cause of the accident. Early findings suggest that the car lost control, but all possible factors are being examined.

This incident has cast a pall of grief over the entire area, with local residents calling for stricter safety measures on the highway.

In another incident near Konra Phanta on the Bakhassar road, a motorcycle collided head-on with a speeding vehicle coming from the opposite direction. A young man died at the scene, while another sustained serious injuries. Both were traveling from Dhori Manna to Chohatan.

Upon receiving the information, Chohatan’s station officer Lalit Kishore arrived with a police team to initiate further action.
