Jamui, September 21 (Daily Kiran) : NCP (SP) spokesperson Seema Malik has sharply criticized the government regarding a recent incident in Jamui, Bihar, demanding strict action. She also addressed concerns over the SIR process, rising inflation, and comments made by Madhya Pradesh Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya about a female councilor.
Commenting on the suicide of an IIT Bombay student, Malik expressed deep sorrow, emphasizing the need for a fair investigation into the allegations surrounding the case. She urged that no conclusions should be drawn until the investigation is complete. Malik highlighted the alleged caste-related aspects of the case, insisting that action be taken against those found guilty based on the investigation’s findings.
Malik condemned the Jamui incident, stating that it deserves unequivocal condemnation. She described the visuals of the event as extremely serious and questioned how the accused found the audacity to commit such acts. Referring to the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” campaign, she criticized the BJP for its handling of women’s safety issues.
The spokesperson accused the BJP of making grand claims about women’s safety and law and order while incidents like this continue to occur in BJP-ruled states. She called the harassment faced by women a grave issue that warrants stringent action against the perpetrators.
Expressing her displeasure over the characterization of the Jamui incident as a “trivial matter,” Malik pointed out the disparity in public reactions. She noted that while a comedian’s comment can spark significant controversy, serious incidents regarding women’s safety are often downplayed. Malik also criticized the JD(U), stating that the party under Nitish Kumar was once more focused on law and order than it is today.
Addressing the SIR process, Malik referred to notices allegedly received by prominent political figures in Delhi, questioning the implications for ordinary citizens who might be facing similar issues.
On the topic of rising inflation, Malik targeted the central government, stating that the prices of vegetables and essential goods are increasing. She questioned why the public is not benefiting from the decline in crude oil prices on the international market despite the rising costs of petrol and diesel.
Malik also objected to Vijayvargiya’s remarks about the female councilor, accusing him of engaging in “performative politics.” She highlighted the contradiction between advocating for women’s respect and making derogatory comments about them.
