Jamui, September 22 (Daily Kiran) : Maulana Sajid Rashidi, president of the All India Imam Association, has expressed grave concerns regarding a recent incident in Jamui, Bihar, where women’s safety is increasingly at risk. Speaking on September 22, 2026, he highlighted the alarming nature of such events, referencing a case where a boy sexually assaulted his mother after tying her up, as well as another incident involving the gang rape of an 11-year-old girl over five days. Rashidi stated, “These occurrences, particularly the Jamui incident, have crossed all limits.”
He emphasized the need for stringent action against such crimes and called on the government to take serious measures for women’s safety.
Rashidi also shared his views on Muslim participation in Hindu festivals such as Holi, Diwali, and Garba. He pointed out that the Quran explicitly states that while Allah can forgive many sins, ‘shirk’—the worship of anyone other than Allah—cannot be forgiven. He argued that participation in these festivals, which involve idol worship, is strictly forbidden for Muslims.
He questioned the rationale behind a Muslim attending such events, asserting that doing so could jeopardize their faith. In response to BJP legislator Rameshwar Sharma’s controversial remarks, Rashidi challenged the underlying mindset, asking, “What could be more degrading than this? Now they are eyeing Muslim sisters and daughters. I want to ask them, would you send your sisters and daughters to a mosque? If you can, do so. We will provide them with good education and values.”
On the upcoming 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Rashidi remarked on statements made by AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi. He suggested that any party claiming to oppose the BJP is likely in collusion with it, regardless of its identity. He posed a thought-provoking question: “Are Muslims born only to defeat the BJP?”
Rashidi acknowledged that every party has the constitutional right to grow and contest elections but stressed that Muslims should not be pressured into believing their sole purpose is to oppose the BJP.
