Lucknow, September 22 (Daily Kiran) : Abdul Mateen Siddiqui, the Samajwadi Party’s in-charge for Uttarakhand, recently addressed the state executive meeting in Lucknow. He discussed strategies for the upcoming assembly elections, the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), the appointment of a permanent state president, and ongoing coalition discussions. Siddiqui emphasized the importance of strengthening the party’s organization and preparing for the elections.
During the meeting, party president Akhilesh Yadav engaged with Uttarakhand’s officials and workers. They deliberated on how to enhance the party’s presence and which constituencies to contest. Siddiqui noted that Yadav has shown a clear commitment to the people of Uttarakhand, highlighting the Samajwadi Party’s significant role in the state’s formation. He recalled how former Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav had passed proposals in both houses to facilitate the establishment of Uttarakhand.
Siddiqui mentioned that prior to Uttarakhand’s formation, Mulayam Singh Yadav had set up the Kaushik Committee. He asserted that if subsequent governments had followed the committee’s recommendations, Uttarakhand could have become the leading state in the country.
Regarding the UCC, Siddiqui stated that it has already been implemented in Uttarakhand. He dismissed claims that it harms minorities, emphasizing that issues like triple talaq have always been prohibited. He further argued that the government lacks any agenda beyond development and communal issues, asserting that the public understands this reality. He believes the future will favor secular politics, in which the Samajwadi Party will play a crucial role.
On the appointment of a permanent state president, Siddiqui indicated that a decision might be reached within a week, with one leader likely to be appointed as president and others as executive presidents. He also suggested that one or two co-in-charges could be appointed alongside the in-charge.
When asked about potential alliances, Siddiqui clarified that no coalition has been formed yet. Should Congress make any requests in the future, he stated that the decision would rest with Akhilesh Yadav, whose directives will be binding for the party.
Addressing questions about the Sanatan issue, Siddiqui referred to the construction of a large Kedarnath temple in Etawah by Akhilesh Yadav. He asserted that if Yadav did not recognize Sanatan values, he would not be undertaking such a significant project.
