New Delhi, June 16: Union Minister for Rural Development and Agriculture, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, announced on Tuesday that the national launch of the “Developed India – Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural)” (VB-G Ram Ji) will commence from Andhra Pradesh on July 1.
This announcement was made during a meeting held at the Agricultural Building in the national capital, alongside Andhra Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. The meeting reviewed the progress of rural development programs, employment generation initiatives, livelihood enhancement schemes, and panchayat development projects in the state.
Chouhan stated that rural development ministers from all states and union territories will participate in the program via video conferencing from various regions across the country.
He emphasized that successful models of rural administration from Andhra Pradesh will be showcased, including the Gram Panchayat Development Scheme, model panchayats, and zero-waste gram panchayats.
The Union Minister praised Andhra Pradesh’s development efforts, describing it as one of the most progressive states in the country. He noted that the state has established a distinct identity for making swift decisions related to development.
Chouhan encouraged the state government to continue innovating in rural development and mentioned that successful models from Andhra Pradesh would be shared with other states as best practices.
During the meeting, Pawan Kalyan updated the Union Minister on the progress of various rural development schemes in Andhra Pradesh. He reported that all projects under rural development programs have been geo-tagged to ensure transparency and prevent corruption.
He also mentioned that the work on a face authentication-based beneficiary verification system is nearly complete.
The Deputy Chief Minister added that construction work on rural roads and houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) is progressing rapidly across the state.
He highlighted that drinking water facilities for livestock have been made available in every panchayat, benefiting rural livestock keepers and strengthening livelihood opportunities.
Pawan Kalyan expressed gratitude to the central government and the Ministry of Rural Development, stating that Andhra Pradesh has been allocated over ₹7,700 crores as interim funding under the VB-G Ram Ji initiative. He noted that this funding will accelerate rural development projects and enhance infrastructure in villages.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan invited Pawan Kalyan to participate in the National Rural Development Conference scheduled for June 28 and 29 in New Delhi. The conference will focus on the effective implementation of the VB-G Ram Ji scheme, sharing experiences among states, and discussing innovations in rural development.
