Lucknow, June 16: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued strict directives regarding the upcoming Muharram, emphasizing that it is a time for mourning, not a display of power. He stated that any form of weapon display, initiation of new traditions, and the uncontrolled use of loud DJs and drums will not be permitted during Muharram. The Chief Minister has ordered severe action against any attempts to disturb the peace.
Additionally, he announced a 50% discount on bus fares for candidates participating in the NEET exam scheduled for June 21. This discount will be applicable to those showing their admit cards on Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation buses.
During a high-level review via video conferencing on law and order, upcoming festivals, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), and preparations for International Yoga Day, the Chief Minister instructed all district magistrates and police superintendents to establish communication regarding Muharram arrangements. They must ensure that no incidents disrupt law and order in any district.
Referring to past events, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for effective control over the uncontrolled use of loud DJs, drums, and other instruments. He stated that there should be no display of weapons during Muharram processions. Furthermore, to prevent accidents, the height of tazias should adhere to established standards, with no tazias exceeding 10 to 12 feet allowed.
He reiterated the importance of respecting everyone’s faith but made it clear that the creation of new traditions will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The Chief Minister noted that approximately 350,000 candidates will participate in the NEET exam across 59 districts on June 21. He directed that candidates traveling from other districts without accommodation should be provided with necessary temporary housing facilities.
He also instructed that all necessary arrangements be made to maintain the integrity, transparency, and sensitivity of the exam, in accordance with NTA guidelines. Additionally, he called for strict monitoring of social media and other platforms to prevent the spread of rumors or misinformation, with prompt and effective action against such attempts.
While reviewing preparations for International Yoga Day, the Chief Minister stated that yoga is an invaluable heritage of Indian culture and sage tradition, serving as a powerful means to maintain both physical and mental health. He noted that thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts, yoga has gained global recognition, and this year’s theme for International Yoga Day is “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”
He instructed that the Prime Minister’s program be broadcast live across the state. The Chief Minister emphasized the need for active participation from public representatives in Yoga Day events. He directed that yoga programs be organized in all 57,000 gram panchayats and 762 urban bodies in the state.
Priority should be given to collective yoga sessions at Amrit Sarovars, historical, and cultural sites, and the identification of program venues in the 14,000 wards of urban areas should be ensured.
