Ayodhya, June 12: Allegations of fund misappropriation at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya have prompted a strong response from the opposition against the state government. In light of these accusations, Uttar Pradesh Minister Surya Pratap Shahi clarified that the matter is an internal issue of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, which is currently conducting its own investigation.
During a media interaction in Ayodhya, Minister Shahi emphasized that the Ram Temple Trust operates as an autonomous body registered under the Indian Trust Act, with its own set of rules and regulations. He stated that the Trust has already initiated an inquiry and will take necessary actions. Should the Trust seek assistance from the government, it will certainly be considered, as there can be no compromise on trust.
Shahi urged critics to focus on the millions of devotees who visit the temple with faith, rather than questioning the Trust.
The minister also provided details on the development projects undertaken in Ayodhya over the past 12 years. He noted that alongside the construction of the Ram Temple, infrastructure improvements are underway. A budget of ₹3,418 crores has been approved for a 66-kilometer ring road. Additionally, ₹23.66 crores are being spent on modernizing Ram Ki Paidi, which will include a viewing gallery, visitor center, MP theater, and a 300-meter-long ghat capable of accommodating 20,000 devotees. Furthermore, ₹20.78 crores have been allocated for the redevelopment of Guptar Ghat, enhancing the river, lake, park, lighting, and tourism facilities.
Minister Shahi stated that these initiatives will improve transportation in Ayodhya, connect national highways, and enhance international connectivity.
He also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for completing 12 years in office, highlighting the government’s achievements. Shahi remarked that Modi’s tenure has not just been a passage of time but a transformative period for the nation. The mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas’ has successfully integrated the poor and marginalized into the mainstream.
In discussing the government’s six key pillars—complete development, welfare of the poor, national security, strengthening borders, knowledge and science, and robust administration—Shahi noted that unprecedented work has been accomplished in these areas.
