New Delhi, August 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the CEOs and founders of 20 leading space startups in the national capital on Friday. During this meeting, he praised the rapidly growing capabilities of India’s private space sector and emphasized the need for increased collaboration and innovation to establish India as a global hub for space technology.
Representatives from startups involved in rocket manufacturing, reusable semi-cryogenic launch vehicles, satellite technology, avionics electronics, advanced propulsion systems, space and defense intelligence solutions, space debris removal technology, and AI-based weather and climate forecasting participated in the discussion.
The startup founders briefed the Prime Minister on the swift advancements in India’s private space sector and shared their future plans. They highlighted the years of hard work and investment their companies have made in developing indigenous technologies and capabilities. They also expressed gratitude to the central government and the Prime Minister for opening the space sector to private participation and for various policy reforms.
Industry representatives noted that due to government support and increasing collaboration among companies, a robust space ecosystem is developing. They mentioned that their teams are working with enthusiasm and commitment to achieve significant goals.
The startup leaders recalled that when the government opened the space sector for private participation, it sparked new enthusiasm in the industry and created numerous opportunities for Indian companies. He suggested that companies working on space debris management could partner with environmental organizations to maximize the use of their technology.
