Lucknow, March 14: Continuous efforts are being made in Uttar Pradesh to ensure equal educational opportunities. In line with this, the Right to Education (RTE) Act is facilitating free education for economically weaker and marginalized children in private schools. The application, verification, and lottery processes are being successfully conducted through a transparent online system.
So far, over 150,000 students have been admitted to private schools under the RTE in the first and second phases combined. Approximately 109,000 seats have been allocated in the first phase, while more than 47,000 children secured admission in the second lottery. This initiative has opened up better educational opportunities for many children from economically disadvantaged families.
Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh believes that quality education should reach children from all sections of society. The aim is to ensure that children from economically weaker families can also attend private schools and improve their futures. Officials from the Basic Education Department report that a significant number of applications have been verified across various districts. The highest admissions under the RTE have occurred in districts like Lucknow, Kanpur Nagar, Agra, Moradabad, and Bulandshahr, where thousands of children now have the chance to study in private schools.
Similarly, districts such as Aligarh, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Ghaziabad, Firozabad, and Bareilly have also provided opportunities for thousands of children to enroll in private schools. Under the RTE Act, seats in private schools are reserved for children from economically weaker and marginalized communities. To enhance the effectiveness of this system, the entire process has been made online and transparent, ensuring fairness in the selection process.
Monika Rani, Director General of School Education, stated that the upcoming phases of the admission process under the RTE will be completed soon to benefit as many eligible children as possible. The districts with the highest admissions include:
