Srinagar, March 4: Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and President of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mehbooba Mufti, expressed her disappointment on Wednesday regarding the Indian government’s silence over the recent attacks on Iran by the United States and Israel.
During a press conference, Mufti stated that for the past 5-6 days, the US and Israel have been bombing Iran, resulting in the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
She recalled a time when India supported Iran, highlighting that when sanctions were imposed on India, Iran provided free oil. “Now, the global order is completely disrupted,” she remarked.
Referring to the assassination of Khamenei, Mufti emphasized that the silence of the Indian government and the National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir regarding the open aggression by the US and Israel does not imply that those who speak out are criminals deserving of legal action.
She criticized the lack of condemnation from Indian leaders regarding these attacks. Many individuals, including women, were arrested when they took to the streets to show solidarity with Iran. “What can we say about our country in such a situation?” she questioned.
Mufti added, “The BJP has already sunk the country by playing Hindu-Muslim politics.” She also targeted Muslim nations, stating that they have remained silent spectators, indirectly supporting the US by providing it with bases. She believes that the recent US agreement with Saudi Arabia was aimed at targeting Iran.
