Imphal, September 8 (Daily Kiran) : The Chief Minister of Manipur, N. Biren Singh, has expressed profound sorrow over the murder of Chongtham Vikram, a celebrated musician and music teacher, in Delhi’s Kilokri area. The incident, which occurred on September 8, has drawn significant attention and condemnation from the Manipur government.

In a press release from the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Imphal, Singh condemned the brutal attack that led to Vikram’s death at his residence. He emphasized that no individual should face violence or lose their life for simply seeking peace in their own community.

This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the safety concerns faced by people from the Northeast living, studying, and working in the national capital, Singh noted. He urged that such incidents should not be viewed as isolated cases.

The Chief Minister has reached out to Delhi’s Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, requesting a prompt investigation under the supervision of senior police officials. He called for the swift arrest of all perpetrators and those involved in the conspiracy, ensuring they face the full extent of the law.

Additionally, Singh has requested enhanced security measures in areas with a significant population of students and professionals from Manipur and other Northeastern states. He extended his heartfelt condolences to Vikram’s family, friends, and the wider Manipuri and Northeast community during this difficult time, expressing solidarity with them in their grief.
