New Delhi, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has raised serious concerns regarding a building associated with BJP MLA Anil Sharma’s family in RK Puram, New Delhi. Led by state president Saurabh Bhardwaj, AAP councillors staged a protest outside the South Zone office of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Thursday, demanding access to building plans and related documents for the PG building situated in Satya Niketan-Moti Bagh.
Bhardwaj claims that discrepancies have emerged from documents obtained from the MCD concerning the construction of the PG building. He alleges that the building spans approximately 400 to 500 square yards, while MCD records indicate the approved building plan and land registry is around 230 square yards.
According to Bhardwaj, the MCD’s approved plans permitted construction on only 75% of the total area, yet he asserts that construction has occurred across the entire site. On Thursday, AAP councillors visited the MCD South Zone office in Green Park to obtain information regarding the building plans, which MLA Anil Sharma has claimed are valid.
After some time, the MCD provided the approved building plan from 2022, which reportedly shows the land area as approximately 230 square yards. Bhardwaj questioned the basis for the allegedly constructed building, which exceeds the recorded area. He described this situation as a serious case of unauthorized construction and criticized the MCD’s inaction.
Bhardwaj noted that multiple complaints had been lodged during the building’s construction, yet MCD officials failed to act. He suggested that the lack of action was due to the building’s connection to a BJP-affiliated individual. He urged Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s government to take action against the PG building if it is serious about combating illegal construction in Delhi, suggesting that a bulldozer should be used to demonstrate its commitment.
He also took to social media, alleging that the PG building in Satya Niketan-Moti Bagh is constructed on more than double the registered land area. Bhardwaj claims that the MCD’s approved building plan is for 193 square meters (approximately 230 square yards), yet the actual construction exceeds this.
Additionally, he raised questions about the building’s usage. He pointed out that the building is located on the main road near the Gurudwara in Satya Niketan and close to the MLA’s residence. He alleges that the ground floor is being used as an office instead of parking, and that a packaging company is renting space in the basement.
Bhardwaj asserted that if rooms or offices have been constructed in the stilt parking area, their compliance with relevant regulations should be investigated. He has demanded that MLA Anil Sharma publicly disclose the registry related to his land and building, stating that such transparency would clarify the registered land area in Sharma’s name and the current occupancy.
He emphasized that if all documents are found to be compliant with construction regulations, there should be no issues. However, if discrepancies are identified, accountability must be established. Given the MLA’s public office, Bhardwaj stressed the need for an impartial investigation into the allegations surrounding the property and construction.
