India Expresses Deep Concern Over Rising Tensions in West Asia

New Delhi, June 8: India expressed profound regret on Monday over the escalating attacks in West Asia and urged all parties to de-escalate tensions. The Ministry of External Affairs stated that these developments are a significant concern for the international community.

The ministry’s statement read, “India deeply regrets the recent attacks in West Asia. These events are a serious concern for the international community. This conflict has been ongoing for over 100 days, resulting in severe humanitarian suffering. It has also had a serious impact on the global economy and energy supply.”

The statement further urged all parties to immediately reduce tensions, ensure the safety of civilians, and complete ongoing diplomatic discussions to restore peace and stability in the region.

Earlier, India’s embassy in Tehran issued a travel advisory in light of the regional situation. The embassy advised Indian citizens to avoid traveling to Iran and urged those currently there to leave the country using all available means.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Monday that it targeted “multiple sites” at a petrochemical complex in Iran’s Mahshahr region.

In another statement, the Israeli military claimed that all Iranian missiles launched on Monday morning were intercepted. The IDF also noted that the impact observed in open areas of the West Bank was likely due to large debris falling after interceptions. According to ‘The Times of Israel,’ the alert was lifted following a missile attack warning in the Jerusalem area.

Meanwhile, Ali Abdollahi, commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters, warned that if Israel increases its attacks in southern Lebanon and the Dahieh area of Beirut, it would face even more “devastating attacks” that it would “regret.”

He stated that Israel is conducting “hostile actions” against the people of Lebanon and committing war crimes, including the use of banned weapons like phosphorus bombs, due to American support and the silence of international organizations.

He also mentioned that despite warnings, Israel has intensified its attacks on southern Lebanon and Dahieh, crossing all boundaries.

This conflict began following the U.S.-Israeli joint attacks on Iran on February 28. In response, Iran targeted Israeli and U.S. positions and regional allies with drone and missile strikes.

A ceasefire was implemented on April 8, but subsequent peace talks failed. However, in recent weeks, new proposals for a peace agreement have been exchanged between Iran and the U.S., with efforts underway to draft a memorandum to end the conflict.
