Patna, June 16: Security forces have achieved another significant success in the Naxal-affected Gaya district of Bihar. During a joint search operation in the forest areas near Dumri village, under the jurisdiction of Lutua police station, illegal weapons and explosive materials were seized.
This operation was conducted by the 47th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in collaboration with local police teams.
According to an official, this special operation was led by Assistant Commandant Rajesh Kumar Maurya of the CRPF’s 47th Battalion.
The security forces acted on intelligence reports indicating that Naxal operatives had hidden weapons and explosive materials in the forest area. In response, the joint team launched an extensive search operation in the region.
During the search, the security personnel recovered several items linked to Naxal activities, including a pistol, empty cartridges of an AK-47, electronic detonators, batteries, detonator wires, approximately 20 meters of electric wire, and weapon cleaning equipment.
Officials noted that Naxal groups often hide weapons and explosives in dense forests and hilly areas to evade police action and use them during attacks.
Senior officials stated that this recovery indicates that security forces are closely monitoring Naxal activities in the area and actively thwarting their operational plans.
According to the authorities, this timely action has reportedly prevented a major untoward incident that was planned in the region.
All recovered materials have been handed over to the Lutua police station for further legal action and investigation. Following the recovery, security patrols and search operations in the area have been intensified.
Previously, Bihar police claimed that a series of coordinated operations conducted from January 1 to May 31, 2026, significantly weakened criminal and Naxal networks across the state. DIG Sanjay Kumar Singh of the Bihar Special Task Force (STF) reported that during this period, there were 10 encounters, resulting in the deaths of three criminals and injuries to seven others.
