Madhya Pradesh Approves ₹21,485 Crore for Development and Health Initiatives

Bhopal, June 2: The government of Madhya Pradesh, led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, has approved a substantial funding of ₹21,485 crore aimed at enhancing the state’s comprehensive development, public welfare, and health systems.

In an official announcement, it was revealed that a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yadav took place on Tuesday at the state secretariat. The council approved this significant funding to bolster development and health services across the state. In a move to provide relief to the public, the cabinet decided to waive stamp duty and registration fees entirely under the ‘Swamitva Rights Record Execution and Registration Scheme-2026’, which will incur a financial burden of ₹3,800 crore on the state government.

Additionally, to strengthen health services, ₹17,059 crore has been allocated under the Department of Public Health and Medical Education. This funding will facilitate the construction of new medical colleges and increase the number of MBBS and PG seats. The cabinet also approved amendments to the ‘Madhya Pradesh Panchayat Raj and Gram Swaraj Act’ and the ‘Madhya Pradesh Cess Act’ to accelerate rural development and financial reforms. Madhya Pradesh will become the first state to secure land rights for citizens in rural areas, paving the way for their economic advancement.

Under the Swamitva scheme, legal rights records for residents in rural Madhya Pradesh will be created using drone technology. A committee will be formed, chaired by the Commissioner of Land Resource Management, to issue detailed guidelines, establish processes, and conduct regular reviews for effective implementation of the scheme.

This committee will include the Inspector General of Registration and Superintendent of Stamps, the Commissioner of Finance and Accounts, the Commissioner of the Panchayat and Rural Development Department, and the Managing Director of MPSDC, with subject matter experts included as needed.

The Mohan cabinet also decided to enhance transparency in school education by providing uniforms to students from grades one to eight through a tender process for the 2026-27 academic year. Furthermore, important decisions were made, including the revised cost of the Indore District Court building, the formation of a commission for the judicial inquiry into the Bargi Reservoir incident, and the exemption of two major films from SGST. These decisions represent significant steps toward infrastructure expansion and transparent governance in the state.
