Bhopal, June 2: Ahead of Raksha Bandhan, the Madhya Pradesh government is set to introduce a new initiative aimed at providing women with safe, convenient, and reliable travel options. The ‘Chief Minister‘s Easy Transport Service’ will be launched on this festive occasion, focusing on ensuring secure and comfortable journeys for women using state-operated buses.
The initiative aims to address the lack of public transportation in rural and remote areas, where people often have to rely on overcrowded private vehicles.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced on the social media platform X that the service will be symbolically inaugurated during Raksha Bandhan, with a comprehensive strategy being developed for its phased expansion.
He noted that the public transport system had weakened during the previous Congress government. With improvements in basic amenities like roads, electricity, and water in villages, it is now time to strengthen effective bus services once again.
The plan will be implemented in phases, prioritizing high-demand routes in the initial stage. The Chief Minister’s Easy Transport Service, along with the central government’s PM e-Bus service, will commence operations in the Indore division starting in July.
Atal Indore City Transport Service Limited has been entrusted with the responsibility of bus operations in the Indore division.
In the initial phase, three categories of buses will operate from Indore. This includes 608 buses on 121 inter-district routes connecting various districts of Madhya Pradesh, buses on 28 routes within Indore city and suburban areas, and 276 buses on 101 inter-state routes connecting Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.
Additionally, under the PM e-Bus service, 150 electric buses will also be launched in Indore starting in July.
A total of 620 routes connecting seven divisional headquarters and district headquarters have been identified for state-level operations, with 2,432 buses planned to run. Overall, the initiative aims to operate 5,206 buses across 1,164 routes in all seven divisions.
The government believes this initiative will facilitate women’s mobility, enhance connectivity in the state, and promote organized public transport. By providing safe travel options, the government aims to make Raksha Bandhan even more memorable for sisters.
