Leaders Call for Environmental Action on World Environment Day

New Delhi, June 5: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, among other leaders, extended their greetings to the citizens of India. They urged everyone to take a pledge for environmental protection and join the “One Tree in the Name of Mother” campaign.

Rajnath Singh expressed his wishes on X, stating, “On World Environment Day, I wish you all the best. Under PM Modi’s visionary leadership, India has made unprecedented progress in environmental protection, climate action, sustainable development, and the rapid expansion of renewable energy. From enhancing greenery to reviving ecosystems and leading global initiatives, India has set a new benchmark in balancing economic growth with environmental sustainability. The success of the ‘One Tree in the Name of Mother’ campaign initiated by PM Modi has transformed environmental protection into a people’s movement, inspiring millions to contribute to a greener and more sustainable future. As we celebrate World Environment Day, let us reaffirm our commitment to protecting ‘Mother Earth’ and leaving behind a green, clean, and prosperous world for future generations.”

CM Yogi Adityanath also took to social media, wishing everyone on World Environment Day. He emphasized that Earth is our mother, and protecting it is our commitment. “Let us pledge for environmental protection today and fulfill our responsibilities towards nature,” he wrote.

He further announced the launch of a statewide tree plantation campaign under the “One Tree in the Name of Mother” initiative. Events such as the establishment of the ‘Maharishi Charak Herbal Forest’ in Lucknow, the launch of the Uttar Pradesh Clean Air Management Project, and the unveiling of the logo for the Tree Plantation Campaign 2026 will accelerate the commitment to nature conservation and environmental enhancement. Following this, the inauguration and foundation-laying of development projects in Balrampur will direct the journey of public welfare and development.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma also posted on X, extending greetings to all residents of the state with a commitment to a clean environment, green development, and a secure future. He urged everyone to take responsibility for nature conservation, water enhancement, tree planting, and maintaining environmental balance for the benefit of future generations.

JD(U) MP Sanjay Jha remarked that the environment must be preserved for the future to survive. He emphasized that environmental protection is not a one-day campaign but a daily responsibility towards future generations. “If we cannot provide them with clean air, pure water, and a green nature, our greatest responsibility will remain unfulfilled. Let us pledge to contribute to nature conservation and enhancement on this World Environment Day. Even a small effort, like planting a tree, can significantly improve the environment.”

Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya congratulated everyone on World Environment Day, stating that a clean, green, and balanced environment is the foundation for human life, biodiversity, and a secure future for coming generations. He highlighted PM Modi’s call for the “One Tree in the Name of Mother” campaign, symbolizing the commitment to tree planting, sensitivity towards nature, respect for maternal power, and our responsibilities towards future generations. “On this World Environment Day, let us pledge for environmental protection and increased tree planting, joining the Prime Minister’s campaign to strengthen this people’s movement.”

Former Bihar CM Nitish Kumar also extended his wishes, stating that awareness and public participation in environmental issues can ensure a safe and prosperous future for upcoming generations. “We must continue to make positive efforts towards environmental protection. Our small initiatives can lay the foundation for significant positive change.”

Union Minister Manohar Lal emphasized that protecting nature is not just our duty but also our responsibility. “Let us resolve to plant as many trees as possible and keep our earth green and thriving, while also protecting and enhancing it.”

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari reiterated the importance of reaffirming our commitment to protecting and preserving our planet. “The sustainable choices we make today will create a greener and healthier tomorrow.
