Congress Launches Students Echo Campaign Amid Concerns Over Examination System

Ahmedabad, June 26: The Congress Party launched its nationwide campaign, “Student’s Echo,” in Ahmedabad on Thursday. They claimed that repeated irregularities and flaws in the country’s examination system are jeopardizing the future of students across India.

This 40-day campaign will take place in 28 major cities. Its goal is to unite students, job seekers, and youth groups regarding issues like exam paper leaks, recruitment delays, and the functioning of the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Addressing a press conference, former Maharashtra minister and MLA Satej Patil accused the BJP government of putting millions of students’ futures at risk. He demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and called for an investigation into alleged connections between those responsible for exam paper leaks and political figures.

Patil stated that the BJP government’s corrupt policies have endangered many students’ futures. He described this campaign as a platform for students and job seekers whose efforts have been undermined by exam paper leaks, canceled exams, delayed results, and stalled recruitment processes.

He noted that public trust in the examination system has severely eroded following the NEET-UG controversy. “Students are not asking for favors; they simply demand fair exams and timely recruitment,” he emphasized.

During the event, Congress leaders paid tribute to Kahan Patel from Gujarat, who reportedly committed suicide out of despair following the NEET exam paper leak controversy. They also referenced several student suicides linked to exam-related stress reported across the country.

Patil highlighted that there have been over 89 cases of exam paper leaks and scandals in recent years, yet no major mastermind or gang has been exposed. With diminishing trust in national examinations, accountability must be established at the national level.

Ahmedabad city coordinator Shesh Narayan Ojha claimed that paper leaks have become a regular national issue rather than isolated incidents. Citing party statistics, he stated that there have been 89 cases of paper leaks in the past decade, affecting at least 6.5 million candidates. He mentioned that around 48 exams had to be rescheduled, while 22 were canceled before they could be conducted.
