New Delhi, June 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Queen Maxima of the Netherlands on Thursday. They discussed how India’s digital public infrastructure is making financial services more accessible and affordable.
PM Modi shared on the social media platform ‘X’, “It was a pleasure to meet Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands. She is also the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Inclusion and has long supported financial inclusion worldwide.”
During the meeting, he highlighted how the transformation driven by India’s digital public infrastructure is reaching more people and making services affordable. This initiative is helping to simplify lives and empower individuals on a large scale.
The Prime Minister emphasized that India is always ready to share its experiences with partner countries around the world.
Queen Maxima is visiting India in her capacity as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Inclusion. On Wednesday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) welcomed her.
The MEA stated on ‘X’ that Queen Maxima’s visit demonstrates a shared commitment to promoting financial inclusion. It also focuses on learning from India’s digital public infrastructure experience to foster inclusive and sustainable development.
During her visit, Queen Maxima engaged directly with people from diverse backgrounds to understand their experiences with financial services and the challenges they face. The UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate shared this information in a post on ‘X’.
She also met beneficiaries of India’s Jan Dhan Yojana, a government initiative aimed at providing easy and affordable banking and financial services to the public.
The UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate noted that insights gained from these discussions will aid her in future meetings with leaders from both the private and public sectors.
Last month, during his visit to the Netherlands, PM Modi also met with Queen Maxima and King Willem-Alexander. During that trip, he gifted Queen Maxima earrings made of meenakari and kundan, showcasing India’s rich jewelry traditions originating from Rajasthan.
