Tokyo, June 26: Indian Ambassador to Japan, Nagma Malik, met with Senate President Masakazu Sekiguchi on Thursday at the National Diet building. The discussion focused on enhancing the bilateral relations between the two nations.
During the visit, the ambassador also toured the National Diet building. The Indian Embassy in Japan shared on social media platform ‘X’, stating, “We had the opportunity to visit Japan’s National Diet building on Thursday. Its stunning architecture and beautiful decor are truly impressive. This building hosts the sessions of Japan’s parliament, known as the ‘Diet’.”
The embassy emphasized that parliamentary cooperation and mutual exchange between democratic nations like India and Japan form a crucial foundation for the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership.
Earlier this month, the ambassador met with Nagasaki Mayor Shirosuke Suzuki. They discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and mutual relations between India and Nagasaki. On June 8, she also held talks with Japan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Hiroshi Takehiro.
Both parties reviewed the outcomes of recent high-level meetings and discussions, focusing on steps to further strengthen bilateral relations. Last month, Japan’s Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi visited India, participating in the Japan-U.S.-Australia-India Foreign Ministers’ meeting and holding a courtesy meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.
According to Japan’s Foreign Ministry, both countries confirmed their commitment to work together to promote economic development through investment, innovation, and knowledge exchange, as well as to achieve concrete results in the field of economic security.
