Mumbai, April 2: Minister Harpal Singh Cheema from Punjab has expressed serious concerns about the deteriorating law and order situation following an explosion outside the BJP’s state office in Chandigarh. He stated that if Chandigarh were integrated into Punjab, the situation could be significantly improved.
In a conversation regarding the incident, Cheema emphasized that Punjab is in safe hands. He assured that the Aam Aadmi Party government does not compromise on security, maintaining a zero-tolerance policy towards crime.
Cheema warned that any attempts to challenge Punjab’s security or disrupt law and order would be met with strict action. He urged for Chandigarh to be handed over to Punjab, asserting that they would take full responsibility for law enforcement. “If Chandigarh is entrusted to us, not a single wrongdoing will occur,” he claimed.
He criticized the current state of Chandigarh, stating that it has been turned into a dumping ground. Once known as the “Beautiful City,” it is now plagued by poor law and order, with incidents of violence reported daily in various markets. Cheema pointed out that the BJP has completely failed in maintaining order.
Responding to BJP leader Ashwini Sharma’s remarks, Cheema accused him of spreading falsehoods. He clarified that recruitment in Chandigarh is managed by the administration, overseen by the Governor, who directly reports to the Government of India. He suggested that the explosion outside the BJP office is a result of the party’s own failures, claiming they aim to create a negative atmosphere in Chandigarh and Punjab.
