Major Crackdown on Black Marketing in Uttar Pradesh: 233 FIRs Filed

Lucknow, April 3: Under the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a significant crackdown on black marketing of petrol, diesel, and LPG has been initiated across the state. Since March 12, a total of 233 FIRs have been registered.

Twenty individuals have been arrested, and prosecution is underway against 237 others. The Chief Minister has repeatedly stated that strict action will be taken against those spreading rumors.

The Commissioner of the Food and Logistics Department reported that inspections and raids were conducted at 19,882 locations as part of this initiative. There have been 33 cases registered against LPG distributors, while 200 FIRs have been filed against other individuals involved in LPG black marketing. This action was carried out simultaneously across the entire state.

Officials received clear instructions from the Chief Minister to take strict measures against black marketing without disrupting the supply chain. Enforcement teams were activated in districts, and continuous monitoring was implemented.

The supply of petrol and diesel in the state remains normal, with regular sales occurring through 12,888 petrol pumps. Sales figures from March 28 to April 1 have also remained stable. Currently, the state has a stock of 97,000 kiloliters of petrol and 126,000 kiloliters of diesel. Department officials assure that supply is being ensured as per demand.

Additionally, strict directives have been issued to 4,107 LPG distributors regarding supply. Immediate action is taken upon receiving complaints. A 24-hour control room has been established at the state level to monitor the situation, and district administrations have been instructed to remain active in the field around the clock.

The situation regarding LPG is also reported to be satisfactory. Consumers are receiving cylinder supplies according to bookings through the 4,107 gas distributors, and adequate stock is available. The government is also emphasizing the expansion of the City Gas Distribution (CGD) network. In a meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary, instructions were given to expedite pending approvals and to issue more PNG connections. Furthermore, the central government has allowed an additional 20% allocation of commercial LPG cylinders since March 23.

To monitor the supply system, a 24-hour control room has been established at the Food Commissioner’s office. Control rooms are also active in all districts, continuously overseeing the situation. The government assures that there is ample availability of petrol, diesel, and LPG in the state, and strict actions against any form of black marketing or hoarding will continue.
