Odisha Chief Minister Campaigns for BJP in Birbhum, Calls for Change in Bengal

Kolkata, April 3: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi campaigned on Thursday in Rampurhat, Birbhum district, supporting BJP candidates and calling for change in West Bengal. He asserted that the tides are turning, stating, “The Anga has changed, the Kalinga has changed, and now Bengal will change too.”

On the same day, four BJP candidates—Dhruv Saha (Ramapurhat), Anil Singh (Nalhati), Nikhil Banerjee (Hansan), and Rinki Ghosh (Murarai)—filed their nominations at the office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate in Rampurhat.

Majhi’s convoy reached Rampurhat to support the candidates, spending nearly 40 minutes at the Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office. After exiting, he spoke to the media, emphasizing that the public has raised their voice against corruption. He noted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, development is taking place across the country, and a corruption-free government will emerge in Bengal as well. “This time, Bengal’s future lies with a ‘double-engine’ government,” he added.

He further mentioned that he previously campaigned in Midnapore and is now in Birbhum. Observing the public’s response, he expressed confidence that the lotus will bloom in Bengal this time.

During his address, he accused the ruling party in West Bengal of corruption. Majhi claimed that voters will choose change, asserting that development has stagnated in the state. “People want development and clean governance. This hope is why support for the BJP is growing,” he stated.

Majhi also discussed the ‘Special Intensive Revision’ (SIR) exercise of voter lists in West Bengal. He clarified that the names on the voter list are determined according to the Constitution. He questioned the presence of infiltrators on the voter list, stating, “Infiltrators should not be on the voter list or in the country.”
