New Delhi, August 31: Delhi’s Industry Minister, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, held a review meeting on Monday with officials from relevant departments at the Secretariat. The focus was on the industrial development of the national capital and improved management of electronic waste (e-waste).
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, the minister stated, “Today, a review meeting was held at the Secretariat regarding the industrial development of Delhi and better management of e-waste. We discussed the roadmap to develop the Flagged Factory Complex in Jhandewalan as a ‘Smart Industrial Hub’ equipped with modern facilities and to establish scientific facilities for the proper collection, segregation, dismantling, and recycling of e-waste in Delhi.”
He added, “Under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, we are continuously working to strengthen and modernize Delhi’s industries while safeguarding the environment.”
During the meeting, officials elaborated on plans to upgrade the Flagged Factory Complex. This complex will be developed into a Smart Industrial Hub featuring modern infrastructure, enhanced connectivity, and eco-friendly facilities. The government’s goal is to provide small and medium enterprises with all necessary amenities in one location.
The meeting also emphasized the management of rapidly increasing e-waste in Delhi. Officials reported that thousands of tons of electronic waste are generated in the capital each year, necessitating modern facilities for scientific disposal. The government is preparing a comprehensive roadmap for the collection, segregation, dismantling, and recycling of e-waste.
Minister Sirsa stated that the government aims to promote industries while prioritizing environmental protection. Initiatives are being taken to make Delhi a green and sustainable industrial hub. Relevant departments were instructed to present their action plans within the stipulated timeframe.
