New Delhi, April 6: New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Jamieson has yet to make his debut for the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the IPL. Should he get the opportunity, he expects to take on the responsibility of handling the new ball. However, he acknowledged that the team has not yet defined his role.
In an exclusive interview, Jamieson stated, “I can’t say anything about playing in the next match, but if I get the chance, I’m sure I will be responsible for the new ball. However, regarding role clarity, there hasn’t been much due to my absence in the last two matches. I believe bowlers should be flexible. Nowadays, that’s the case for almost every bowler.”
Jamieson also commented on DC’s fast bowler Mukesh Kumar, saying, “I think Mukesh has pointed out that we all have our strengths, and we try to stick to them. He executed this brilliantly in the last match. When people are hitting boundaries against you, it’s easy to feel pressured and think you need to change your approach. It’s a matter of character, but I will stick to what I know. I understand that this is my strength.”
Jamieson was referring to Mukesh Kumar’s ability to bowl with precision, similar to Josh Hazlewood.
Praising the IPL, Jamieson remarked, “For me, it’s the biggest tournament in the world. You always want to be a part of it. You learn a lot. Even after playing a lot of cricket, you are constantly trying to learn and grow. Being part of the IPL is an inspiration.”
He added, “The atmosphere here is great. We are trying to give ourselves a chance to advance the game. Playing in the most pressure-filled environment is a platform where you can test your talent. Despite the pressure, there’s an opportunity for growth as a player and to reap the rewards.”
In the IPL 2021 season, Jamieson took 9 wickets in 9 matches for RCB, and in IPL 2025, he claimed 5 wickets in 4 matches for Punjab Kings. In IPL 2026, Jamieson was acquired by Delhi Capitals for ₹2 crore.
