Kerala Chief Minister Urges PM Modi to Intervene Amid Rising Middle East Tensions

Thiruvananthapuram, March 1: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has expressed deep concern over the escalating conflicts in the Middle East. On Sunday, he wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting intervention in the matter.

In his letter, Chief Minister Vijayan stated, “I am writing to share my concerns regarding the situation following the attacks on Iran. The repercussions of these attacks are now affecting all countries in the Gulf region.”

He emphasized, “Many of our citizens, including numerous individuals from Kerala, reside in these Gulf nations. Their families and the general civil society are quite worried about this situation. We must be prepared to ensure the safety of our migrants, which includes taking necessary actions to bring them back safely if needed. I trust that the Government of India will consider this matter seriously.”

Reiterating his concerns, Vijayan added, “I am informing the Prime Minister about our worries regarding the safety of our citizens, most of whom are from Kerala. I assure you that the Kerala government is ready to provide all possible assistance, including establishing a helpline for families to contact their loved ones.”

It is noteworthy that tensions in the Middle East have escalated following the conflict between Israel and Iran. Israel launched attacks on Iran on Saturday. In retaliation, Iran targeted U.S. military bases in Bahrain, UAE, Kuwait, and Qatar with missiles and drones.

Israel has also been conducting aggressive strikes against Iran. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed that over 30 targets in western and central Iran have been attacked, including aerial defense systems, missile launchers, government targets, and military command centers. The IDF stated that it will continue to diminish the capabilities of the Iranian regime until they cease threatening our people.

The IDF also claimed the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Additionally, they reported that seven senior Iranian military commanders, including Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh and the chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), have been killed.
