Kevadia, September 22 (Daily Kiran) : The 72nd National Film Awards ceremony took place on September 22 in Kevadia, Gujarat. President Droupadi Murmu presented the Best Actress award to Yami Gautam for her role in “Article 370,” while Karthik Aryan received the Best Actor award for “Chandu Champion.”
After the event, both actors shared their excitement with the media, calling the moment historic. Yami expressed her struggle to absorb the significance of the occasion. “For any artist, especially someone who has dedicated their life to this craft, it’s a matter of great pride and honor. I speak for all dreamers who come to this city, unsure of what lies ahead. I’m still learning and have much work to do. Being honored in such a historic place is special,” she said.
Karthik Aryan echoed her sentiments, stating, “I am extremely happy and feel wonderful. I am at a loss for words to express my gratitude for this magnificent event. A heartfelt thank you to President Droupadi Murmu.”
Manoj Muntashir, who won Best Lyrics for the film “Maidan,” expressed his dual joy and pride in receiving the award under the shadow of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He urged fellow citizens to visit Kevadia, describing it as a remarkable place that pays tribute to India’s “Iron Man.”
Prasoon Joshi, Chairperson of Prasar Bharati, praised the initiative of holding the ceremony outside Delhi, near the Statue of Unity, which symbolizes national unity. He expressed hope that future ceremonies would take place in various locations across the country and congratulated all winners.
Abhishek Jain, director of the Best Gujarati Film winner “Maran,” shared his happiness at the recognition of Gujarati cinema on a national platform. “The presence of the Statue of Unity during the awards emphasizes unity, sending a powerful message to the nation,” he said.
Child artist Tapomay Deb, who won the Best Child Artist award, reflected on his dream coming true. “I am very happy, and my parents are thrilled too. Receiving this award from President Droupadi Murmu was a joyous moment.”
Riddhiman Banerjee, awarded Best Child Actor, expressed his pride and happiness upon receiving the accolade from the President.
This year’s National Film Awards not only celebrated individual achievements but also highlighted the unity and diversity of Indian cinema.
