Mumbai: Film critic Kamal Rashid Khan, also known as KRK, has received significant relief in connection with the Oshiwara firing incident. The Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate Court granted him bail on a personal bond of Rs 25,000.
KRK was arrested by the police on the evening of January 23 following questioning. After a week in custody, he was released on bail.
The incident involved loud gunfire heard twice from a residential building in Oshiwara, Andheri, Mumbai. Fortunately, no casualties or damage were reported. The building houses writer-director Neeraj Kumar Mishra and model Prateek Vaidhya, both of whom heard the gunshots at night.
Initial police investigations indicated that the shots were fired from KRK’s residence. He was taken into custody on January 23, and the police conducted detailed interrogations, including a scene recreation at the location. KRK remains the prime suspect in the case.
During questioning, KRK reportedly told the police that he did not intend to harm anyone and that the incident occurred while he was cleaning his licensed firearm. The police seized his licensed gun and recovered live cartridges from the scene.
Earlier, while appearing in the Brihanmumbai Court, KRK stated that as a critic of Bollywood stars, attempts were being made to frame him. He emphasized he holds a valid license for the weapon and would not attempt to harm anyone.
KRK’s legal team also claimed in court that an unidentified individual fired two rounds, refuting the police’s allegations.
This is not the first time KRK has been involved in controversies. He has previously faced action over his social media posts and videos.
