Nice, June 14: French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday at Villa Kerylos in Nice. Following this, the two leaders engaged in bilateral talks covering various topics, including innovation, trade, investment, sustainability, security, culture, and people-to-people relations. Global and regional issues were also part of the discussions.
President Macron expressed his enthusiasm on social media platform X, stating, “I am very happy to welcome my dear friend Narendra Modi. From Nice to Paris, this seventh visit showcases the extraordinary strength of the France-India partnership. We are starting a new chapter for talent, investment, and concrete solutions for our people.”
Under the leadership of PM Modi and President Macron, India and France held a bilateral meeting. Tensions in the world, particularly due to Iran and the United States, were acknowledged. The leaders discussed regional and global issues during their talks.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal provided insights about the meeting, stating, “Another step towards strengthening the India-France partnership! PM Modi and President Emmanuel Macron reviewed the developments in the India-France special strategic partnership. They discussed areas such as innovation, trade, investment, sustainability, security, culture, and people-to-people relations.”
The Ministry further noted that the meeting yielded results in various sectors, including innovation and AI, science and space, startups and fintech, trade and infrastructure, mobility, and health. Both leaders also shared their views on significant international and regional issues.
It is noteworthy that PM Modi is set to visit two cities in France. As part of his six-day foreign tour, he arrived in Nice before heading to Slovakia and then Paris. PM Modi is expected to participate in the G7 summit in Évian on June 16-17, where he may hold bilateral talks with U.S. President Donald Trump.
