Mumbai, June 14: The 1999 film ‘Haseena Maan Jaayegi’ was a massive hit during its time, with its songs still enjoyed by many today. Recently, actress Karisma Kapoor shared an intriguing story related to the film on the dance reality show ‘India’s Best Dancer Season 5.’ She reminisced about her experiences during the shooting of the film.
During the show, Karisma revealed, “Only a few scenes of the film were shot in Goa. At that time, I felt my role was minimal, so I approached director David Dhawan directly and asked him where my character stood in the film. He advised me to be patient and assured me that I would be featured in the upcoming two songs. Just wait a little longer.”
She continued, “After that, we shot the song ‘What Is Mobile Number.’ It was completed in just one day. That’s the magic of cinema. Sometimes, projects that are wrapped up quickly end up being the most popular among audiences. This song was loved by many.”
Karisma also made another interesting revelation. She explained, “While the film’s story is set in Goa, the song that people associate with Goa was actually filmed at a resort on Madh Island in Mumbai. Everything looked so real on screen that the audience never realized it wasn’t Goa.”
She further shared, “During the recording and filming of the song, I noticed a shot that was incorrect. Someone had walked into the background. I panicked and rushed to David, telling him that if any viewer caught that mistake, the film might not succeed. However, after the release, it turned out that no one noticed it at all.”
In addition to Karisma Kapoor, the film featured prominent actors like Govinda, Sanjay Dutt, and Pooja Batra. Notable artists such as Anupam Kher, Kader Khan, Aruna Irani, and Paresh Rawal also played significant roles in making the film memorable. ‘Haseena Maan Jaayegi’ was released on June 25, 1999.
