PM Modi Meets President Macron, Celebrates India Innovates 2026 Launch

Nice, June 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with French President Emmanuel Macron in Nice and expressed his happiness on social media. The two leaders inaugurated ‘India Innovates 2026′ together. PM Modi stated that the discussions held during ‘India Innovates 2026’ in Nice were extremely enriching and informative.

In a post on the social media platform X, he wrote, “It was a pleasure meeting you, my friend President Macron, in Nice. Thank you for participating in ‘India Innovates’ at a time when our country is celebrating the ‘Year of Innovation’.”

In another post, he mentioned, “The discussions at ‘India Innovates 2026’ in Nice were highly enriching and informative. I engaged in meaningful dialogue with investors and leaders from the venture capital sector about the vast opportunities in innovation, technology, manufacturing, and emerging sectors in India. Our development journey is driven by talent, scale, sustainability, and reforms, making India an attractive and reliable destination for investment and innovation.”

PM Modi is also set to attend the G7 summit in France. After Nice, he will visit Slovakia for two days of various engagements before heading to Paris to meet with partners from G7 nations.

The ‘India Innovates 2026’ initiative, organized by the Government of India, is a project by the Ministry of Education that includes 120 Indian innovators, 15 higher education institutions (HEIs), and over 500 investors. Additionally, major corporates, venture capital firms, global CEOs, and industry leaders were present.

The initiative is expected to deepen India’s connection with the global innovation network and strengthen its position as a leading hub for technology-driven growth and entrepreneurship. It is being held under the India-France Year of Innovation, which was inaugurated by PM Modi and President Macron in February 2026 in Mumbai.

During his visit to France, PM Modi is also expected to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump. Discussions are anticipated regarding the proposed U.S.-India trade agreement, focusing on developments so far. However, White House officials have indicated that the ongoing negotiations will not finalize the agreement during this meeting.
