JP Nadda Highlights Central Governments Support for Himachal Pradesh

Shimla, June 13: Central Minister JP Nadda addressed the media on Saturday, marking 12 years of the BJP government. He elaborated on the financial assistance and support provided to Himachal Pradesh by the central government while launching a strong critique against the state’s Congress government.

Nadda asserted that the Congress government falsely claims a lack of support from the center. He emphasized that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the central government has consistently provided substantial economic aid to Himachal Pradesh.

He highlighted significant contributions in the health sector, noting that the AIIMS Bilaspur, costing ₹1,400 crores, is now fully operational and becoming a hub for modern healthcare in the state. Additionally, ₹547 crores have been allocated for medical colleges in Chamba, Nahan, and Hamirpur. Projects like the PGI Satellite Center and the Chamiya Super Specialty Block are further expanding healthcare services in Himachal.

Nadda mentioned that the central government has accelerated several key projects in hydro, education, urban development, railways, and energy sectors. The Renuka Dam has been declared a project of national importance, with ₹7,000 crores approved, while ₹1,800 crores have been sanctioned for the Luhri Stage-1 Hydro Project. Infrastructure has been strengthened through IIM Sirmaur, IIIT Una, smart city initiatives, and railway expansions, with ₹13,168 crores allocated for railway projects and world-class railway stations.

The Indian government has continuously provided significant support for the development of Himachal. For the fiscal year 2024-25, ₹2,381 crores in special assistance, ₹2,006 crores from the NDRF, and ₹2,150 crores for externally aided projects have been allocated. Historic work has also been done in road connectivity, with the construction of 668 kilometers of four-lane roads at a cost of approximately ₹40,000 crores, enhancing connectivity, tourism, and development in the state.

Nadda stated that a narrative is being crafted by the Congress government to hide its inefficiency, claiming a lack of central assistance. He urged the media to inform the people of Himachal that there is no shortage of funds from the Indian government, especially for Himachal Pradesh. The central government has always provided ample financial support, and its commitment to the state’s development remains unwavering.

He added that under PM Modi’s leadership, India has reached new heights of development and is now among the world’s major economies, progressing rapidly. Policies and initiatives like DBT have increased transparency, significantly benefiting the economy.

Nadda expressed gratitude to the people of Himachal for their overwhelming support for the BJP in the recent Panchayati Raj and municipal elections. He noted that the election results reflect the public sentiment, clearly favoring the Bharatiya Janata Party.
