Tragic Collision in Chitradurga: Government Bus Hits Truck, Two Dead and Six Injured

Chitradurga, October 1 (Daily Kiran) : A tragic road accident occurred Thursday morning in Chitradurga, Karnataka, when a government bus collided with a truck transporting urea. The incident took place on National Highway 48 near Upadhyay Hotel. Reports indicate that the bus, operated by Rajhans Transport, was traveling at high speed when it struck the truck from behind.

The impact was severe, leading to the immediate deaths of the bus driver, Nagaraj Naik, and one passenger. Six other individuals on the bus sustained serious injuries. The injured have been identified as Shobha, Vijaykumar, Mahalindappa, Jagdish, Sanna Thimappa Attappa, and Prasanna, all residents of Chitradurga district.

Local residents quickly alerted the police after the crash. Traffic and city police arrived on the scene to assist. They worked with locals to rescue the injured passengers trapped inside the bus and transported them to the government hospital in Chitradurga. Some of the injured are reported to be in critical condition.

Authorities have taken possession of the bodies of the deceased for post-mortem examinations. The accident temporarily disrupted traffic on the highway, but police cleared the wreckage with the help of a crane to restore normal flow.

A case has been registered, and an investigation into the causes of the accident is underway. Preliminary findings suggest that excessive speed and negligence may have contributed to the crash.
