Ranchi, August 2: The Jharkhand Police have intensified their search for Prerna Kumar, a wanted Indian national linked to international drug trafficking, who is believed to be hiding in the state. According to central agency reports, Kumar hails from Ranchi and may currently be in a concealed location within Jharkhand.
Based on inputs from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in New Delhi, the Jharkhand CID has issued directives to senior police officials across all districts, including Ranchi, Jamshedpur, and Dhanbad, to verify her current whereabouts and provide a report.
The CID’s communication states that Prerna Kumar is allegedly wanted by the NCB in Moscow for her involvement in an international drug trafficking case. The NCB in Delhi noted that she arrived in India from Nepal on July 4, 2026. Consequently, assistance from state police agencies has been sought to trace her potential locations.
District police officials have been instructed to verify any information regarding Kumar’s presence in their areas and to report back to headquarters promptly. This information will then be forwarded to Interpol and the NCB in New Delhi.
Reports indicate that the NCB’s Kathmandu office had previously informed both the NCB in New Delhi and Moscow via email that Kumar departed from Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal on July 4. Along with this information, an Interpol diffusion notice, a copy of her passport, and her boarding pass were also shared. Based on this input, the NCB in New Delhi requested the Jharkhand CID to confirm her address in Ranchi.
According to investigative agencies, this operation is being conducted under the framework of Interpol’s diffusion notice. Such notices do not serve as evidence of guilt but facilitate the exchange of investigative information among member countries and aid in locating the individual in question.
Sources reveal that central intelligence agencies and state police are also examining potential locations, local contacts, and digital activities related to Kumar. However, claims and videos circulating on social media have yet to be officially verified. The police have stated that all information is being validated, and the investigation is ongoing.
