Ranchi, August 2: Chaos erupted during the ongoing student protests against irregularities in the JPSC-JSSC recruitment exams in Jharkhand when a young man climbed a high mast tower late Saturday night. After several hours of effort, police and family members managed to bring him down safely on Sunday morning.
The individual has been identified as Hiralal from Balumath in Latehar district. He climbed the tower around 1:30 AM and began shouting loudly from the top. This drew a crowd of students, police officers, and others gathered below the tower. Reports indicate that the young man was distressed due to family issues.
He has been embroiled in a long-standing dispute with his wife, Poonam. The young man claimed that she left him because he was unemployed. He demanded her return while threatening to jump from the tower if his request was not met.
Upon receiving news of the incident, police summoned his parents and other relatives to the scene. Family members attempted to persuade him to come down, but he was initially unwilling to cooperate. After persistent efforts from police officials and his family, he safely descended on Sunday morning. Witnesses suggested that he might have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
At the time of the climbing, students were protesting against alleged irregularities in the JPSC recruitment exams, creating a tense atmosphere at the protest site for a brief period.
