New Delhi, August 2: On the birth anniversary of Pingali Venkayya, the designer of the Indian flag, several prominent leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, paid their respects.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed his tribute on X, stating, “On the birth anniversary of Pingali Venkayya, I respectfully pay homage to him for designing our tricolor. A distinguished scholar and polyglot, he dedicated his life to the service of the nation. His remarkable contributions to India’s freedom struggle, education, and agricultural research reflect his unwavering commitment to nation-building and progress. His enduring legacy continues to inspire generations of Indians.”
Home Minister Amit Shah also took to X to honor Venkayya, saying, “Tribute to Pingali Venkayya on his birth anniversary. He made invaluable contributions to the design of our national flag, which proudly symbolizes our pride and aspirations. His role in the freedom movement and the development of various streams of knowledge will always inspire Indians.”
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari shared his respect on X, stating, “I pay my homage to the great freedom fighter Pingali Venkayya on his birth anniversary, who designed our national flag, the tricolor.”
Central Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy wrote on X, “On the birth anniversary of Pingali Venkayya, I humbly pay tribute to the visionary whose extraordinary contributions provided independent India with one of its most enduring symbols of unity, identity, and national pride—the tricolor.”
He further added, “As a scholar, freedom fighter, and patriot, Venkayya’s life was a testament to unwavering dedication to the nation. The national flag of India is not just a symbol; it embodies the sacrifices of countless freedom fighters, the ideals of our Constitution, and the aspirations of over a billion Indians. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis posted on X, “Unity, pride, and sovereignty—our tricolor symbolizes all these. I respectfully pay tribute to Pingali Venkayya, the designer of the Indian national flag, which is the most significant symbol of freedom and identity for India!”
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan remarked on X, “On the 150th birth anniversary of Pingali Venkayya, I pay heartfelt tribute to the visionary who gifted India our tricolor—an eternal symbol of our unity, freedom, and national pride. Born in Bhatlapenumarru village in Krishna district, this great patriot bestowed upon the nation its most cherished symbol, a matter of immense pride for every Telugu person. His extraordinary legacy will continue to inspire future generations to uphold the dignity and spirit of our national flag.”
