Tokyo, March 30: Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaiichi stated on Monday that she is willing to consider high-level discussions with Iranian leadership at the right time, provided it aligns with Japan’s national interests. This comes as tensions in the Middle East remain high.
According to Kyodo News, Takaiichi made these remarks during a session of the House of Representatives Budget Committee, emphasizing, “I will determine the right timing for discussions based entirely on the country’s interests.”
As reported by Xinhua News Agency, stability in the Middle East is crucial for Japan, which relies on this region for over 90% of its crude oil imports.
On March 19, Prime Minister Takaiichi expressed to President Donald Trump that he is uniquely positioned to establish peace amid global security crises. Their meeting at the White House took place during a time of rising concerns over tensions in the Middle East and the global economy.
