Thiruvananthapuram, April 2: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh targeted both the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala, accusing them of corruption and appeasement politics. He stated, “Even God is not safe in God’s own country.”
These remarks were made during a campaign event for NDA candidate Vatsala Prasanna Kumari in Paravur. Singh referenced the Bible, noting that Judas betrayed Jesus for silver, and alleged that the LDF has betrayed Lord Ayyappa for gold.
He further claimed that those responsible for the alleged gold theft are being protected, pointing to a photo featuring a senior Congress leader with one of the accused. Singh announced that the CBI will investigate the alleged gold theft at Sabarimala and demanded strict action against those accused of looting public funds.
Targeting both fronts, Singh asserted that despite political rivalry, the LDF and UDF are “two sides of the same coin” when it comes to corruption. He quipped, “Though their flags may differ, their thinking is the same. They are friends entrenched in corruption.” He also accused both alliances of maintaining ties with extremist organizations and questioned who would protect Kerala from groups like SDPI and Jamaat-e-Islami.
“The BJP is the only party that can safeguard the state,” Singh declared. He criticized the “obsession with gold” among certain leaders, referencing the Malayalam film “Poonman,” and alleged that close associates of the Chief Minister are the true beneficiaries.
On the Munambam land issue, Singh accused both the LDF and UDF of engaging in appeasement politics and failing to stand with families facing eviction threats. He alleged that Congress seeks support from such organizations for political gain during elections. Urging voters to view the election as a fight against corruption and appeasement, he stated that the BJP presents a credible alternative.
In Paravur, an exciting electoral battle is set between UDF candidate and opposition leader VD Satheesan and CPI’s E.T. Tyson Master from the LDF.
