Global Forum on Digital Economy Collaboration and Innovation Held in Geneva

Geneva, April 1: The Global Digital Economy Conference hosted the Digital Economy Collaboration and Innovation Forum at the Palace of Nations in Geneva on Tuesday. The forum, themed “Unlimited Digital Intelligence, Friendly Shared Benefits,” attracted over 150 representatives from around the world, including experts from politics, business, education, and international organizations.

Francis Gurry, President of the Global Digital Economy City Alliance, delivered the opening speech, noting that while cooperation among nations faces some stagnation, collaboration between cities is opening new avenues for development. He praised Beijing’s leading efforts in the digital economy as an effective example.

Shan Qian, Deputy Representative of China’s Permanent Mission in Geneva, emphasized that the digital economy is shaping the direction of global development. He stated that as the digital economy expands, there is an increasing need to strengthen global governance. He also clarified that China is committed to fostering broad consensus in the development of the digital economy, enhancing cybersecurity governance, and reinforcing multilateralism.

During the forum, in-depth discussions were held on the development of the digital economy and the framework for international cooperation. Additionally, a China-Switzerland enterprise dialogue took place. An exhibition area called “Beijing Solutions” was established, where leading digital economy companies from Beijing shared their experiences and insights with participants.

Notably, the 2026 Global Digital Economy Conference is scheduled to take place in July in Beijing. Prior to this, the Global Digital Economy City Alliance was formed in July 2025 through collaboration with Beijing and over 40 partner cities.
