Jammus Divisional Commissioner Leads Meeting on Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board

Jammu, June 14: Jammu’s Divisional Commissioner, Ramesh Kumar, chaired a meeting of the Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board on Saturday in Ransoo. The meeting focused on reviewing the board’s operations and discussing measures to enhance infrastructure and facilities for the influx of pilgrims visiting the sacred site.

While reviewing the board’s activities, the Divisional Commissioner emphasized ongoing efforts to upgrade infrastructure and expand amenities for devotees. He instructed that tenders for shops near the shrine and along the pilgrimage route be issued promptly and stressed the installation of CCTV cameras at key locations within the shrine premises.

During the meeting, several development projects received on-site approvals. The Divisional Commissioner assessed arrangements around the helipad, particularly the establishment of fire safety infrastructure, and directed relevant departments to ensure all necessary safety measures are implemented.

Recently, the Divisional Commissioner visited Ramban district to review preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra 2026. He also evaluated the progress of the National Highway-44 four-laning project from Nashri to Banihal.

On another note, the Divisional Commissioner recently reviewed flood preparedness and monsoon arrangements. He sought updates on the steps taken by district administration and department heads in anticipation of the upcoming monsoon. He instructed Deputy Commissioners to establish control rooms at the district level for immediate action, restoration of essential services, and flood prevention efforts.

He urged them to continuously monitor water levels in rivers and other water bodies within their districts. Deputy Commissioners in hilly areas were advised to send expert teams to assess slope stability in vulnerable regions and to implement necessary measures proactively. They were also tasked with identifying areas prone to landslides and floods, and to devise rescue plans accordingly. Civil defense volunteers were instructed to receive training and conduct mock drills with local residents.
