New Delhi, June 22: The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) celebrated the 12th International Yoga Day at nine locations, with approximately 6,000 participants joining the event. This initiative was coordinated with the Ministry of AYUSH and eight yoga institutions.

An official statement revealed that NDMC Chairman Keshav Chandra led the participants in following a general yoga protocol under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Aging.”

The event saw participation from Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, the Secretary of the Ministry of AYUSH, and volunteers from the Art of Living, who joined the yoga program organized by NDMC on Shanti Path.

Additionally, Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Raj Bhushan Chaudhary, participated in the yoga protocol program at Lodhi Garden.

Keshav Chandra also took part in the yoga protocol event at the Municipal Service Officer Institute in Chanakyapuri, alongside volunteers from the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, senior officials, and NDMC staff.

While addressing the gathering, Chandra emphasized the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life, stating that yoga is not just a one-day practice but a lifestyle that should become an integral part of our routines.

He noted that starting each day with yoga fosters physical fitness, mental clarity, and inner balance. Yoga strengthens not only the body but also the mind and consciousness, enabling us to lead healthier, more focused, and productive lives.

Chandra further remarked that in today’s fast-paced world, adopting yoga is essential for overall well-being, resilience, and sustained energy in daily activities.

The main events were held at nine locations in New Delhi, including Lodhi Garden, Talkatora Garden, Kartavya Path, IAS Residential Complex (New Moti Bagh), Sanjay Lake (Laxmi Bai Nagar), Pandara Park, Municipal Park (Connaught Place), and PSOI – Chanakyapuri.

Moreover, NDMC member Anil Valmiki participated in a yoga protocol program held at Valmiki Sadan on Temple Marg, alongside local residents, volunteers, senior officials, and NDMC staff.

Valmiki stated that the yoga program reflects NDMC’s commitment to promoting a culture of healthy lifestyles, overall well-being, and fitness among its employees and citizens.
