Jammu and Kashmir Police Seizes Property of Former KCCI President

Srinagar, July 1: The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police announced on Wednesday the seizure of property belonging to Dr. Mubeen Ahmed Shah, the former president of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).

CIK officials stated that the property was seized as part of an ongoing investigation related to a case registered in 2020. The seizure includes a 12 marla plot located in Buchwara, Srinagar district.

This action followed the completion of necessary legal formalities linked to an FIR registered at the CIK police station. A team from Counter Intelligence Kashmir carried out the seizure in the presence of local revenue officials, ensuring all required paperwork was completed on-site.

Dr. Mubeen Shah, a prominent businessman, served as the head of KCCI from 2006 to 2008. He has been residing in Malaysia with his family since late 2019.

The property seizure is part of the ongoing investigation, and officials indicated that further legal actions will proceed according to the law. The process was completed in the presence of Naib Tehsildar Shah Mohammad Asif.

However, officials did not provide immediate additional details regarding the case.

Dr. Mubeen Shah was arrested in 2019 but was later released. He is regarded as a separatist and an influential Kashmiri businessman who has used his influence to support separatist movements in the region.

The Shah family has been a well-established business family in the valley. They are reportedly engaged in the Kashmiri handicraft business in Malaysia. The family previously operated a significant automobile business in the valley and held the sole agency for Hindustan Motors in Jammu and Kashmir during a time when foreign models were not permitted in the Indian market due to protectionist industrial policies.
