New Delhi, February 19: Iran is emphasizing preparation for future discussions with the United States following the second round of talks held in Geneva, mediated by Oman. Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated in a phone call with the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that Tehran is developing a “framework” for upcoming negotiations with Washington.

According to a statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Araqchi highlighted the importance of establishing an initial and accurate framework to advance future discussions for the Islamic Republic of Iran during his call with IAEA Chief Rafael Grossi.

This phone call occurred just a day after the second round of Oman-mediated talks between Iran and the United States in Geneva.

On the other hand, U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright issued a stern warning, asserting that the United States will prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons “by any means necessary.” Wright made these comments while responding to media inquiries during a meeting of the International Energy Agency in Paris, emphasizing that President Donald Trump believes a nuclear-armed Iran is unacceptable.

Araqchi mentioned on Tuesday that Tehran has conceptually agreed to a deal with Washington to avoid confrontation. He expressed optimism about the negotiations, stating that a new window for an agreement has opened.

After the talks, Araqchi remarked at the United Nations Disarmament Conference, “We hope that the discussions will yield a sustainable and consensus-based solution that benefits all parties involved and the entire region.”

However, he also noted that Iran is prepared to respond to any threats or attacks. He warned that if Iran is attacked, the consequences will not only affect Iran but will also impact others.

Meanwhile, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance stated in an interview that Tehran has yet to respect all of Washington’s “red lines.”
