Jaishankar Strengthens Ties with Mauritius and Bhutan at Raisina Dialogue 2026

New Delhi, March 6: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held meetings with his counterparts from Mauritius and Bhutan during the Raisina Dialogue 2026 in New Delhi on Friday.

Jaishankar met with Bhutan’s Foreign Minister Lyonpo D.N. Dhungyel, reaffirming India’s commitment to deepen the partnership between the two nations. He expressed his satisfaction on social media platform ‘X’, stating, “It was a pleasure to meet Bhutan’s Foreign Minister Lyonpo D.N. Dhungyel at the Raisina Dialogue 2026. We reiterated our commitment to further deepen our special partnership.”

During his meeting with Mauritius’ Foreign Minister Dhananjay Ritesh Ramful, Jaishankar emphasized India’s dedication to enhancing the strategic partnership between the two countries. He shared on ‘X’, “Great to meet Mauritius’ Foreign Minister Dhananjay Ritesh Ramful. We discussed our commitment to further enhance our strategic partnership.”

The 11th edition of the Raisina Dialogue, a flagship conference on India’s geopolitics and geo-economics, commenced on Thursday in New Delhi. Organized by the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the event gathers leaders, policymakers, academics, industry experts, and journalists to discuss crucial international issues.

Earlier, Jaishankar also met Malta’s Deputy Prime Minister Ian Borg during the event. He praised Borg’s insights into the maritime industry in a post on ‘X’.

Additionally, Jaishankar held discussions with Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh amid ongoing tensions in West Asia, which escalated following the U.S.-Israel joint strikes on Iran on February 28, aimed at weakening Tehran’s missile capabilities and military infrastructure.

At the Raisina Dialogue, Jaishankar also engaged with various international leaders, including France’s Minister Delegate Benjamin Haddad, Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development State Secretary Niels Annen, Tanzania’s Deputy Foreign Minister Ngwaru Jumane Maghembe, GLOBSEC founder and president Robert Vass, and European Council on Foreign Relations co-founder and director Mark Leonard.
