Jaipur, March 13: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court has issued arrest warrants for four individuals in connection with the Water Life Mission (Jal Jeevan Mission) scam.
In compliance with the court’s orders, ACB teams are currently conducting raids at multiple locations to apprehend the accused, which include former IAS officer Subodh Agarwal.
According to the ACB, these orders were issued on Friday concerning a case registered in 2024 related to the Jal Jeevan Mission. The court has directed the issuance of arrest warrants against Subodh Agarwal, Jitendra Sharma, Sanjeev Gupta, and Mukesh Goyal.
Following the court’s directives, the ACB has intensified efforts to capture the fugitives. All four accused are currently at large. The anti-corruption agency is conducting raids at suspected hideouts and other locations where the accused may be hiding.
Officials have reported that operations are underway to locate and arrest the accused as soon as possible. The ACB has also stated that if the arrest warrants are not executed and the accused continue to evade capture, the bureau will initiate legal action to seize their properties under the law. Such actions will only be taken after obtaining necessary orders from the court.
This case is linked to alleged irregularities in the works carried out under the Jal Jeevan Mission, a significant initiative aimed at providing tap water connections to rural households. Previously, the ACB conducted a major operation, simultaneously raiding 15 locations across several states.
These locations included Jaipur, Barmer, Jalore, and Sikar in Rajasthan, as well as areas in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Delhi.
During the investigation, the ACB reportedly uncovered evidence indicating that fraudulent bills were generated in the tender process related to the Jal Jeevan Mission projects, leading to financial irregularities and procedural lapses.
Officials confirmed that relevant documents and records were seized during the searches for further investigation. ACB officials have stated that the inquiry is ongoing, with teams continuously gathering evidence and making efforts to locate and arrest the accused. Further actions will depend on the results of the ongoing investigation.
